The recipient of this inaugural award is Tiew Kee Yee who is wheelchair-bound due to his Type 2 spinal muscular atrophy disease. Despite the disease, which causes the muscles of his body to weaken, Kee Yee beat the odds by excelling in both academia and co-curricular activities.
The valedictorian this year is Thaalitha Naidu A/P Suranthiran Naidu who will graduate with the Doctor of Medicine degree. Hailing from Sungai Petani, Thaalitha is the daughter of retired school teachers who went to great lengths in order to realise her dreams of being a doctor.
