ASMIC 2012 is fast approaching. The event promises to be an important milestone for Science and Technology (S&T) in the country. This is the event we are waiting for. This is the event which will provide the answers to the question; How can S&T be the instrument to transform the economy?
Many key speakers from countries around the world will share their experience on how they have made that leap from a struggling middle income economy to high income. Anyone can be a Millionaire! And in a sustainable manner. The government is keeping a close watch on the recommendations coming out of ASMIC 2012.
The theme for this conference is ‘Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for Socio-Economic Transformation - Strategic Drivers for High Income Economy’. The focus areas of the conference will be as follows:
i. Strategic Drivers for High Income - Learning from High Income Economies
ii. Maximizing Natural Assets for Fast - Tracking High Income Growth
ASMIC is ASM’s flagship biennial international conference that aims to provide a platform for constructive discussion to bring all relevant stakeholders such as policy makers, academics, researchers, captains of industry, drivers of trade and finance as well as representatives of STI professional bodies to a common consultative platform to address pertinent STI related issues and pave the path for requisite actions towards practical solutions. ASMIC 2012 is based on the premise that science, technology and innovation (STI) is an important driver of socio-economic transformation towards competitiveness and sustainability in the context of globalisation and the ‘new economy’. ASMIC 2012 will feature talks by international experts and prominent Malaysians.
