EXCLUSIVE MEDIA INVITATION TO THE RIVER OF LIFE LOG BOOM CLEAN UP AND EXCLUSIVE MEDIA VISIT IN CONJUNCTION WITH WORLD RIVERS DAY 2018

It is with great pleasure that we would like to invite you to this exclusive media session of river clean up visit as part of the River of Life Project in conjunction with Annual World Rivers Day Celebration (30 September 2018) together with Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) and Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID). This closed media session will be attended by Tuan Haji Md Khairi bin Selamat, Director of River Basin Management, Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), Ministry of Land, Water and Natural Resources Malaysia.

The objective of this log boom clean up and media visit is to reveal Klang Valley’s riverine condition by addressing the current mitigation effort in river pollution and management by multi-stakeholders. We aim to rediscover and reconnect back to our riverine ecosystem and have a close look at the critical issues that has been polluting our river. You’ll be given the opportunity to be present within the Sungai Gombak in Kuala Lumpur, where general access is prohibited due to law jurisdiction and public safety concerns, to experience collect, segregate and document the rubbish that has been clogging our rivers for decades. Our goal of conducting this event is to get media support by publishing articles and stories through your channels and inform the general public about the importance of our river to the society and country during the World Rivers Day (30 September 2018).
