MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) SIGNING CEREMONY BETWEEN MTDC AND WORLD LOGISTICS COUNCIL (WLC)

Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) will be organizing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony Between MTDC and World Logistics Council Limited (WLC) which will be held as follows:

About
MDDEAS via the Benchmark Trade Lane Program (“BTL”) offers market expansion opportunities for businesses around the world via the provision of digital tools i.e. e-Finance, e-Insurance, e-Commerce, e-Logistics and e-Grants.
Through this MoU, MTDC and WLC will promote the deployment of MDDEAS which will digitally connect businesses in Malaysia with its global trade partners and companies, and trigger enhanced efficiency and security of trade, with Malaysia serving as a benchmark for the world.
About World Logistics Council (WLC)
The Council is an international semi-government revenue sharing organization incorporated in Ireland, formed to implement the G20 Leaders’ Digital Economy policy directives. The Council is governed by 28 entities from 28 countries to offset monopolistic, geopolitical data privacy concerns related to a global solution that impacts trade and trade data which are of national security importance. The Council’s Digital Economy Platform will be deployed by 70 leading technology, commerce, finance and insurance firms with nearly 5 million manpower and annual revenues exceeding USD 1.5 trillion.
About MTDC
MTDC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Berhad and has been the key player in commercialisation and management of government funding since the 7th Malaysia Plan.
The company was set-up in 1992 to promote the adoption of technologies by local companies via commercialisation of local R&D or acquisition of foreign technologies. Since then, MTDC has been a key player in commercialisation and management of Government funds. Currently, MTDC manages five funds, specifically the Commercialisation of R&D Fund (CRDF), Technology Acquisition Fund (TAF), Halal Fund, Business Start-Up Fund (BSF) and Business Growth Fund (BGF).
Besides fund management, MTDC also provides an integrated support services for technopreneurs which includes advisory services such as mentoring, soft-landing, branding, fund raising, international collaboration and networking. MTDC’s commercialisation ecosystem has provided funding and assistance to over 500 technology-based companies that are involved in a wide range of activities ranging from the agricultural sector to ICT.
In the 9th Malaysia Plan (9MP) and 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP) alone, companies that were recipients of MTDC’s Commercialisation of Research and Development Fund (CRDF) and Technology Acquisition Fund (TAF) generated a total of RM1.974 billion in sales and contributed towards the creation of 5,261 new jobs and a total of 465 Intellectual Property Rights were filed.
