  MCMILLAN WOODS ORGANISES 100,000 STEP CHALLENGE TO RAISE RM 100,000 FOR THE BLIND ASSOCIATION AND OLD FOLKS HOMES

McMillan Woods, through their CSR arm McM Cares, will be organising the McMillan Woods 100,000 Steps Challenge on 9th November 2019 at the Tropicana Metropark Property Gallery, Subang Jaya, Selangor to raise RM100,000.00 for the National Council of the Blind, Malaysia (NCBM) and the additional funds is to support the Old Folks Homes. Y.M. Tunku Datuk Mu’tamir Tunku Tan Sri Mohamed, Royal Household of Negeri Sembilan is the Guest of Honor and newly crowned Miss Cosmopolitan World First Runner Up Winner, Christine Chai as the Ambassador will be present.

At the moment, the NCBM has an urgent need to purchase 50 braille machines that will assist the blind to communicate more effectively. In addition to that, McM Cares hopes to raise additional funds to support the Old Folks Homes in caring for the elderly.

The 100,000 Steps Challenge is recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records for at least 10 achievers of the 100,000 steps on that day, 9-11, which is equivalent to come 75km, a daunting task that will take some 18 hours to accomplish with lots of perseverance and determination. Furthermore, this event is also supported by Tourism Malaysia in view of the international participation from countries like Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Indonesia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Iran, Albania and India.

This 100,000 Steps Challenge attracts many supportive sponsors and to name a few, the like of Bagman for the backpacks, T-Shirts from Ultron, Medals and Trophies from Unique Supreme, MyDin for drinks and cookies, Pensonic for achiever gifts, Tourism Malaysia for door gifts among many others to include Fitbit pedometer watches for the achievers who persevere for come 18 hours to accomplish the 100,000 steps. There are also supporters for massage chairs from Gintel to sooth the ache and pain; and treadmills from Fitness Concept, in case of rain.

McM Cares programme is a CSR initiative driven by McMillan Woods that has contributed over USD200,000 (RM 812,900) since its inception to various charities. It aims to address the global challenges of climate change, education and poverty alleviation. McM Cares motto is “Charity sees the need not the cause. The heart that gives, gathers Hope”.
