WORLD-RENOWNED FILM PRODUCER, PEGGY LEE, KNOWN FOR 'DOA: DEAD OR ALIVE', 'CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON', 'KUNGFU HUSTLE', 'THE BRAVEST' AND 'THE CAPTAIN' TO PRODUCE 'BEYOND LIFE & DEATH' IN MALAYSIA

YB Tuan Muhammad Bakhtiar bin Wan Chik, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) welcomes Golden Shield Television of the People’s Republic of China and Changsha LeFeng Culture Communication Co., Ltd. (LeFeng) to co-produce a RM 237 million China-Malaysia international co-production blockbuster in Johor, Malaysia. This collaboration is made possible through the courtesy of Golden Shield Television in association with LeFeng (China), in partnership with Malaysia’s Moths Studio Sdn. Bhd. (Moths Studio) as a first of a series of multiple cultural entertainment projects (eg. Movies, dramas, programs, activities, events, property, etc) between Malaysia and China with an accumulated value of RM 3 Billion over the next 5 years.

Our press conference is pleased to announce its first landmark collaboration between the Chinese and Malaysian parties through a co-production of a top-secret agent action-packed movie, entitled “Beyond Life and Death”, where approximately RM 11.8 million budget is to be spent in Johor, Malaysia. During the press conference, details of the movies will be disclosed and the signature casts from China and Malaysia will be announced for the movie.

In the mean time, world-renowned film producer, Peggy Lee (李锦文), known for 'DOA: Dead or Alive', 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon', 'Kungfu Hustle', 'The Bravest', and 'The Captain' and Co-Producer, Chris Tong (童冰玉), also a famous Chinese-American Film Festival award Malaysian actress, will be present at the press conference to elaborate further on the plans of the production in Malaysia & China, especially some of the chosen attractive locations in Johor.

With the cooperation of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), National Film Development Corporation (FINAS) and Tourism Johor Association (JTA), it is hoped that this new joint venture and the multiple co-productions projects will be in the right path in achieving our Visit Truly Asia Malaysia 2020 campaign goal of 30 million tourists and enriching the creative economy.
