The Coara Marang solar energy plant project is a partnership between Coara Solar Sdn Bhd and its German partner, ib vogt GmbH. The project was developed under the Large-Scale Solar (LSS3) Phase 3 scheme issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission of Malaysia) as part of the government’s efforts to increase the country’s renewable energy mix from 2% to 20% by the year 2025.
The plant site covers an area of 245 hectares and will achieve maximum energy production efficiency up to 116 Megawatts (MWp). Once operational, the plant is expected to deliver an estimated 230 GWh of clean energy per year and improve environmental sustainability by reducing up to 170,000 tonnes of C02 per annum.
