CIMB FOUNDATION TREATS YFA BINTANG MUDA TO A WHOLE DAY OF FUN AT KIDZANIA!
Monday 11/06/2012
KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 (Bernama) -- Following their victorious feat at the 1 Malaysia Hong Leong Yamaha Under 12 Championship for the first time ever, CIMB Foundation treated the young stars of CIMB Foundation’s Youth Football Association (YFA) Bintang Muda Club to a day of fun and excitement at Malaysia’s one-and-only indoor family edutainment theme park, KidZania, recently.
Dato’ Sri Nazir Razak, Group Chief Executive, CIMB Group, who is also the Club’s team manager, was at KidZania to congratulate the young players on their recent win. He was accompanied by Raja Noorma Raja Othman, Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Foundation.
The YFA Bintang Muda Club was adopted by CIMB Group’s CEO’s Office as its Community Link programme.
“Junior development, especially in sports, has always been something close to our hearts. I am pleased that we are able to come together and celebrate the successes of these juniors, and to say ‘well done’ to a group of very talented and dedicated young footballers. Today’s event is just a small way for us to show our appreciation on their hard work,” said Nazir.
“It is encouraging to see how these youngsters have improved over the four years that we have sponsored them. I am impressed by the dedication and single-mindedness with which they pursue their goals; and am extremely proud that we have been able to play a part in their development,” he added.
Nazir also explained that giving back to society is very much a fundamental part of CIMB Group’s corporate philosophy. CIMB Foundation carries out the CSR activities of CIMB Group, focusing on three pillars - community development, sports and education.
CIMB Foundation has funded the Club since early 2009, providing opportunities for young children to learn the game. The Foundation’s funding which goes towards equipment, apparel, training and events enables the club to lower its fees and provide apparel for free so that children from lower-income families are able to participate. A portion of the funding is channelled towards the club’s elite teams, to enable them to receive quality training and take part in tournaments.
The young footballers were then given an awesome opportunity to explore KidZania and live out their life’s dreams and ambitions by exploring what it is like to live and work in a real-life city. They were given the opportunity to choose 90 types of exciting activities from 60 renowned establishments. There, they were introduced to the concept of economy and earning Kidzos (KidZania currency). CIMB Bank, which is one of KidZania’s industry partners, not only provides the currency, but can also be one of the many possible ‘employers’ they can work for and earn Kidzos.
