ACCA AND IMA RESEARCH FOUNDATION ANNOUNCE SPECIAL JOINT CALL FOR RESEARCH PROPOSALS

KUALA LUMPUR, September 18 (Bernama) -- ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and the IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) Research Foundation have announced a special joint call for research proposals for accounting academics and practitioners. Up to USD100,000 will be awarded.
ACCA and IMA welcome research proposals in three main categories:
1. Enterprise risk management (ERM)
• Resource security in the supply chain
• Emerging risk management practices
• Integration of ERM with enterprise performance management (EPM) methods
• Aligning risk management and internal control principles and practices.
2. Technology enablement
• Business intelligence (BI) / business analytics / creative analysis methods
• Technology driving and facilitating the role of CFO, now and in the future
• Product, channel, and customer value and profitability analysis.
3. Business performance management
• Strategic cost management
• Marketing analytics “ how the CFO supports marketing
• The implementation of integrated reporting and/or sustainability reporting.
The topics listed above are for guidance purposes only. Proposals addressing other relevant management accounting topics may be considered.
“This joint call for research supports both ACCA and IMA’s aim to lead and shape the agenda of the accountancy profession. We’re pleased to partner with IMA on this important initiative, and look forward to receiving proposals,” said Ewan Willars, ACCA director of policy.
Proposals must be submitted in English. Preference will be given to proposals submitted by teams consisting of at least one academic and one practitioner.
“As the latest initiative of our strategic partnership with ACCA, we hope to award multiple research projects with the objective of advancing thought leadership and best practices in the management accounting profession,” said Raef Lawson, IMA vice president of research.
