24 COMPANIES BEING AWARDED CERTIFICATION OF EXCELLENCE

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 12 (Bernama) --
Another 24 companies received their certifications for the National Mark of Malaysian Brands (NMMB) during the Malaysian Brand Forum 2012 & Launch of the “Brand Transformer” at the Palace of the Golden Horses, Seri Kembangan. H.R.H. Raja Dr.Nazrin Shah Ibni Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah, the Regent of Perak Darul Ridzuan graced this Event and presented the certificates and trophies to the successful recipients of the NMMB.
The objective of this Event is to promote the NMMB, which is a trust mark, as a symbol of excellence, quality and distinction for Malaysian products and services. The NMMB is one of the strategic initiatives under the SME-Brand Development Programme which is aimed at promoting greater market access to SMEs that have proven to be capable suppliers of products and services. Since its inception in 2009, a total of 55 companies have been certified with the NMMB.
During the event, H.R.H. Raja Dr.Nazrin Shah Ibni Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah also launched the “Brand Transformer”, which serves as the ‘vehicle’ to demonstrate the benefits of using appropriate and attractive packaging, technology and materials to enhance packaging to SMEs in the rural areas. The Brand Transformer will be going on a nationwide road-show and is scheduled to run around 25 sessions per year. It is also aimed at enhancing the awareness on the importance of branding and packaging.
Among the highlights of the event includes a Forum entitled “Branding Malaysian”, which focused on exploring new approach to branding. The main objective of this Forum is to encourage the development of companies, especially SMEs in Malaysia. The Special Guest speakeris the former Premier, Y.A.Bhg. Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and moderated by the renowned Ms. Wan Zaleha Wan Ahmad Radzi.
“Through this certification and recognition, the recipients are indeed regarded as our representatives and brand ambassadors of Malaysia - to stand proud and tall, in the eyes of the world”, said Y.B. Dato’ Mukhriz Mahathir, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) in his address during the event. The event was also attended by Y.Bhg. Datuk Dr. Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria, Secretary-General of MITI, Y. Bhg. Datuk Ir. (Dr.) Mohamed Al Amin Hj. Abdul Majid, Chairman of SME Corp. Malaysia and Y.Bhg. Dato’ Hafsah Hashim, Chief Executive Officer of SME Corp. Malaysia.
