BERNAMA.COM SPORTS A 'NEW LOOK'

KUALA LUMPUR, February 18 (Bernama) --
The National News Agency of Malaysia (BERNAMA) has launched the ‘new look’ for its official news portal www.bernama.com today.
The launching ceremony was officiated by Bernama Chairman Datuk Abdul Rahman Sulaiman.
Bernama.com’s ‘new look’ emphasises on providing viewers with easy, fast and accurate access to the latest news, including incorporating more information, Abdul Rahman said.
“Besides giving the news portal a fresh image, the changes to the Bernama.com web site provide news and information in a way that makes for a more engaging experience for viewers from all walks of life,” he added.
According to Abdul Rahman, this is the seventh time that the Bernama.com news portal has undergone a facelift in its effort to remain competitive in keeping with the demand and expectation of the times.
In addition to enhancing existing web content, several new features designed to provide viewers with an improved overall online experience have been introduced, Abdul Rahman said.
One of these is a ‘Breaking News’ column which will flash the headlines for the latest news bulletin while the actual reporting of the breaking news is still being processed.
Meanwhile, a ‘Perspectives on Current Issues’ segment provides insights and analysis on current issues and events affecting the nation.
Apart from that, the new look has a 2-page ‘Special Coverage’ section focusing on current events taking shape in the political arena in Malaysia. The ‘Special Coverage’ section will be updated twice a week.
Bernama is also introducing its ‘Bernama Newsbrief’. This is a stand-alone daily eNewsletter that is issued daily at 7pm, providing fifteen (15) snippets of selected top news of the day. The ‘Bernama Newsbrief’ will be updated at 10pm in the event of any breaking news occurring, Abdul Rahman said.
With the thirteenth general elections looming around the corner, Bernama.com’s new look also has a PRU13 section to provide special coverage on the thirteenth general elections. As its name implies, the PRU13 section features news, updates and ‘live’ coverage of the results of the general elections.
