EARTHQUAKE IN TAINAN, TAIWAN 6 FEBRUARY 2016

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to confirm that so far no Malaysians were involved in the earthquake that struck the city of Tainan, Taiwan on Saturday, 6 February 2016. There are students and Malaysians living in the earthquake area, but all institutes of higher education and schools are on winter vacation and will only re-open on 15 February 2016. Most of the Malaysian students in the affected area are either on vacation or celebrating the Chinese New Year in Malaysia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Malaysian Friendship and Trade Centre in Taipei will continue to monitor and provide information as and when available. Malaysians residing in Taiwan are advised to always communicate with our office in Taipei and comply with all instructions and safety advices by Taiwan authorities. PUTRAJAYA
