TOKYO, March 23 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- Yamato Holdings subsidiary Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Yutaka Nagao; “Yamato Transport” hereafter) will begin international cool TA-Q-BIN, a door-to-door cooler delivery service for small parcels, from Japan to Malaysia on Monday, March 28, 2016. This follows services already commenced to Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore.
1. Background
Malaysia has shown marked economic development in recent years, and Japanese food has become more popular with heightened orientation toward luxury and health. Further, Japanese groceries that had only been sold at major department stores in the past are becoming increasingly available at supermarkets, specialty stores, and product fairs. Business opportunities will likely expand for Japanese businesses with the larger demand in Malaysia and immediate elimination of import duties with the TPP agreement.
Yamato Transport has offered the international cool TA-Q-BIN service to Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore for speedy, quality door-to-door transport of small cool parcels through coordination with Okinawa prefecture and ANA Cargo and using the Okinawa International Aerial Logistics Hub. By expanding these services to Malaysia, we will contribute to accommodating Japanese food needs in Malaysia and expanding exports of Japan’s agricultural and marine products.
