YAYASAN AZMAN HASHIM, TUNKU ARISHAH TUNKU MAAMOR AND SHALINA AZMAN JOINTLY DONATE RM474,210 TO BUILD HOMES FOR FLOOD VICTIMS

PETALING JAYA, March 24 (Bernama) -- Yayasan Azman Hashim, Tunku Puan Sri Arishah Tunku Maamor and Puan Shalina Binti Azman today donated a total of RM474,210 to social enterprise EPIC Homes for the purpose of building homes for flood victims in Kelantan. Yayasan Azman Hashim, Tunku Puan Sri Arishah and Puan Shalina each contributed RM294,210, RM100,000 and RM80,000 respectively.
The funds will be used to build 8 homes; 3 in Kampung Teranik and 5 in Kampung Lambok. Both villages are located in Kuala Betis, Gua Musang, Kelantan. The 8 families are currently living in their existing houses which have been badly damaged. The rebuilding will be coordinated by EPIC Homes.
In her speech at the cheque presentation ceremony held in Amcorp Mall, Puan Shalina shared that she had personally visited Kampung Teranik in year 2015. She is convinced that more needs to be done to help the victims of the massive flood that occured in 2014. She hopes that the new homes will ease the suffering of the 8 families. Also present at the ceremony were Tunku Puan Sri Arishah Tunku Maamor and Encik Shahman Azman, representing Yayasan Azman Hashim. Mr John-son Oei, Founder and CEO of EPIC Homes received the cheques on behalf of EPIC Homes.
The construction of the houses will start on 11 May 2016 and all 8 houses are expected to be completed by the 2nd week of June 2016, just in time for the families to move in before the Hari Raya Aidilfitri season.
Yayasan Azman Hashim was setup with the aim of improving education, welfare as well as to alleviate human suffering. Besides funding part of this project, Yayasan Azman Hashim has made contributions to various charitable causes, including : - Donating RM30 million to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia for setting up of Azman Hashim Endowment Scholarship Fund
- Funding the construction of a RM25 million building for postgraduate studies in Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur
- Donating £2.9 million to establish the Azman Hashim Fellowship with the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, United Kingdom
- Funding the construction of Azman Hashim UMS Art Gallery of RM15 million for Universiti Malaysia Sabah
- Funding the construction of the Azman Hashim-USM Sports Arena of RM10 million for Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang
- Funding the construction of the Azman Hashim Complex multi-purpose hall of RM7 million for International Islamic University Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur
- Funding the construction of a sports arena of RM4.2 million for Tunku Kurshiah College, Negeri Sembilan
- Funding the construction of a duplex library building of RM3 million for Kuen Cheng High School, Kuala Lumpur
