KUALA LUMPUR TRADE AND COPYRIGHT CENTRE (KLTCC) 2016 TO ENRICH THE ASEAN LICENSING AND PUBLISHING INDUSTRY

Friday 22/04/2016

KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur Trade and Copyright Centre (KLTCC) is back for the 9th edition this year to enrich the ASEAN licensing and publishing industry through intellectual properties (IPs) trade and digital convergence. Hence, Malaysia’s hub for the book industry; Kota Buku as the main organiser is calling all exhibitors, content creators and trade visitors to participate and bring their IPs to life at the 3-day event, which will be held at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) from 7th to 9th May 2016.

Consistent with its position to serve as a channel that promotes copyrights and digital rights trade, KLTCC’s main focuses for this year include; Page to Pitch Media 360 (P2P) (the world’s first publishing to media pitching competition), ASEAN Book Industry Symposium (ABIS) (a platform for exchanging ideas and thoughts about the ASEAN book industry), Pocket Talks (gain insight into the world of content and copyrights by international and local speakers), improved business matching sessions with pre-arranged meetings, and various exhibitions.

Similar to the previous editions, KLTCC will be the meeting place for industry key players from various industries including publishing, broadcasting, digital multimedia and many more to showcase, discover and acquire the best IPs and contents emerging from the ASEAN market. Furthermore, prominent international companies such as Scholastic (US), Ookbee (Thailand), Kadokawa Publishing (Japan) and many more are expected to participate as a buyer during this event. Additionally, Chief Delegates of all ASEAN nations will also take part to share their view and country report on the industry.

Sayed Munawar Sayed Mohd Mustar, Chief Executive Officer of Kota Buku reiterated, "KLTCC is a brilliant platform which helps to promote the licensing and publishing industry to thrive and develop. First, it is an event for the industry players to recognise that this is a platform for them to upgrade their existing contents. Second, we aim to educate the industry players that the publishing industry does not end with a book. We also hope to provide leverage for the industry players to explore new and foreign branches for their existing contents."

Besides introducing the inaugural P2P Media 360 competition to open up opportunities and provides a platform for budding writers to publish their ideas and develop established writers’ IPs into diverse digital media content, KLTCC 2016 will also be offering Malaysiana Grant; a grant for publishers who have Malaysian content related to history, geography, folklore and cultural heritage, and continue promoting the Translation Grant; to support translation works of any books published in Malaysia for international markets worth up to USD 2,500.
