ENERGYTRANSFORMERS WINS THE MALAYSIAN SUSTAINABILITY AWARD 2016

Tuesday 18/10/2016

Mr Peter Wolf of EnergyTransformers accepting the Malaysian Sustainability Award from Y. Bhg. Datuk J. Jayasiri

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 (Bernama) -- EnergyTransformers has won the Malaysian Sustainability Award for Circular Economy at a gala evening hosted by the Malaysian Dutch Business Council.

The event was held on the 6th October 2016 at The Westin Hotel and attended by The Dutch Ambassador Her Excellency Karin Mössenlechner and Y. Bhg. Datuk J. Jayasiri, Secretary General of Ministry of International Trade & Industry.

The prize was awarded for true and impactful entrepreneurship and action driven strategy to tackle and solve large environmental problems related to recycling of agricultural residues and, more specifically, palm oil plantations.

EnergyTransformers competed against the other finalists; Kloth (pet yarns), Sime Darby Real-estate (community development) and BioValence (biofloc shrimp farming systems). All four finalists have met the challenge to create a cleaner environment and a circular economy.  The circular economy is based on reuse and recycling of all materials involved in the entire production and consumption systems.

The proposition of EnergyTransformers is based on the conversion of waste materials from (palm oil) plantations into BioChar, a true soil-improver, that leads to deeper and healthier soils, and considerable agricultural yield increase.

Besides Biochar EnergyTransformers transforms these agricultural residues into a high calorie BioCoal, which is suitable for boilers in power plants. These BioCoals are in high demand across the world because they have a low carbon footprint.

By reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions and lowering energy’s carbon footprint, and by introducing innovative technologies and creating employment, EnergyTransformers shows that growing economies can go hand in hand with a healthier environment and greater sustainability.
