  AKZONOBEL, LOW YAT GROUP AND THE ONE ACADEMY JOINT FORCES TO TRANSFORM RIVERWALK VILLAGE

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 23 (Bernama) -- AkzoNobel, the leading global paints and coatings company and producer of quality paint brand, Dulux together with Low Yat Group and The One Academy today unveiled the newly uplifted Riverwalk Village located at Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, formerly known as Jalan Ipoh. Themed Muhibbah, meaning Harmony in Bahasa, the joint collaboration saw 118 students from The One Academy take part in a meaningful project to uplift one of Kuala Lumpur’s heritage area.
 
The project to uplift Riverwalk City, marks the first time ever in which AkzoNobel Malaysia and Low Yat Group is collaborating in hopes of creating a better tomorrow for the Malaysian community. This collaboration is in line with AkzoNobel’s commitment in creating more Human Cities around the world with focus on commitment in helping the world’s urban areas to deliver a stronger sense of community purpose, pride and happiness. AkzoNobel uses its three key strengths – essential ingredients, essential protection and essential colour – to energize local communities and make them more liveable and inspiring. The initiative to paint murals around Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah hopes to bring life in a new light by creating a more pleasant, vibrant and liveable space for Malaysians.

“Our collaboration with AkzoNobel, together with The One Academy aims to bring positive vibes to create a more patron plus visitor-friendly environment to Riverwalk Village while providing 118 students with a conducive, participatory learning while being a fun platform to express their creative impression of Jalan Ipoh’s heritage and charm, in the spirit of Muhibbah. The commendable efforts of these students to complete a meaningful hand-painted 3D wall mural project on three blocks of shop offices, with a total length of 243 feet in just four days is an achievement to be lauded. This joint initiative is just the beginning and does not end here. We certainly look forward to more collaboration with AkzoNobel to jointly support students of The One Academy in nurturing creative talents in Malaysia,” said Jennifer Chow, General Manager – Property & Business Development, Low Yat Group.

A total of 118 students from The One Academy majoring in different fields from Fashion Design,Multimedia, Fine Art and Illustration, took part in a four-day painting project that was held from 27 to 30 November 2016. Students of The One Academy were given six basic colours such as black, white, yellow, green, blue and red all from Dulux Weathershield®, a range of premium quality exterior paints with Keep Cool™ Technology to reflect infrared radiation from sunlight, reducing exterior wall surface temperature by up to 5oC.*[i] It is also equipped with Colour Lock Technology with superior light fast tinters to ensure colours on exterior walls stay looking new for longer.
