ELASTIC REACHES 100 MILLION DOWNLOADS FOR THE ELASTIC STACK

Wednesday 08/03/2017

New products and features will further accelerate the adoption of Elastic’s products by its massive open source user community and growing global customer base

SAN FRANCISCO, March 8 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- (Elastic{ON}17) -- Elastic, the company behind the open source Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, and Beats), X-Pack commercial extensions, and Elastic Cloud, announced that it has crossed the 100 million download mark and unveiled an array of new products. Up from 50 million downloads a year ago and 20 million the year before that, this milestone establishes Elastic as one of the most successful open source enterprise software providers. Elastic products solve and are embedded in mission-critical use cases such as application search, logging, security analytics, metrics analysis, operational analytics, as well as being used to build real-time, scalable data applications.

“From the start, we’ve built products that solve complex problems while making it easy for our users to get started and scale their efforts every time they use our software,” said Shay Banon, Elastic Co-Founder and CTO. “This 100 million download milestone is a huge testament to our wonderful user community, customers, and partners who continue to innovate with our products, discover new use cases, and build distributed systems.”
At its third annual user conference, Elastic{ON}17, Elastic announced the  following new products and features, scheduled for availability in the spring 2017 timeframe:
  • Filebeat Modules: Elastic’s Filebeat modules create a simple, out-of-the-box experience to collect, parse, and visualize log data from systems and services like Apache2, Nginx, MySQL, etc. Once installed, Filebeat modules ship data into Elasticsearch and pre-configured templates setup Kibana dashboards for users analyze data in minutes.

  • Time Series Visual Builder: Extending the power of Timelion and Metricbeat, Time Series Visual Builder demonstrates the power of aggregations in the same visualization. As a new feature in Kibana, users can create powerful, custom visualizations (Histogram, Gauge, Metric, Top N, and Markdown) for numeric and time series data such as log metrics, application statistics, and server statistics.

  • Machine Learning: Elastic’s new unsupervised machine learning capabilities automatically identify anomalies and outliers in the data stored in Elasticsearch based on predictive models. With machine learning built into the Elastic Stack, the power of automated and statistical insights on data of any type, size, and complexity will empower users to take proactive actions for fraud detection, cybersecurity, and more.

  • Elastic Cloud Enterprise: Based on Elastic Cloud, Elastic’s hosted Elasticsearch and Kibana offering, Elastic Cloud Enterprise automates the setup, administration, and operations of managing multiple Elastic Stack environments through a single console. Elastic Cloud Enterprise provides the choice to run on-premise, in a virtual setup, or a public cloud. It includes all the latest features of the Elastic Stack and X-Pack; and allows users to offer centralized services, such as, logging-, monitoring-, and search- as-a-service capabilities across their entire organization.
Also announced at Elastic{ON}17 were future products that will extend the Elastic Stack for new types of users, data types, and visualizations:
  • Elasticsearch SQL: By exposing a language that many users are familiar with and extending it with Elasticsearch’s unique capability, Elasticsearch SQL opens the door for new users and new types of interactions.

  • Kibana Canvas: Enabling a new expressive way for users to interact with their data, Kibana Canvas allows users to create and compose charts, dashboards, presentations, and infographics with live, real-time data from Elasticsearch.
