KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 (Bernama) --  Malaysia’s one-stop centre for publishers, authors and readers; Perbadanan Kota Buku is calling all aspiring authors and established writers to enter its second Page to Pitch (P2P) Media 360 pitching competition, which will be held in conjunction with the tenth edition of Kuala Lumpur Trade and Copyright Centre (KLTCC), from 28th to 30th April 2017 at Seri Pacific Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

The competition, which is divided into two categories: ‘Ideas to Book’ and ‘Ideas to Digital Media’ aims to open up opportunities and provides a unique platform for budding writers to publish their ideas, and develop established writers’ ideas into diverse digital media content - such as animations, mobile apps and games, eBooks and others.

The grand prize winner of each category this year will receive RM7,000 in cash, in addition to getting a chance to be funded by private venture capitals to develop their ideas further. The winners will be announced on 29th April 2017.

Page to Pitch (P2P) Media 360 is currently the first and only competition in the region to seek new authors via pitching and honour authors’ intellectual properties. The winning ideas will be judged based on concept, originality, viability, sale ability, purpose, and presentation by  representatives from Kota Buku, Buku FIXI Sdn Bhd, Legacy Publishing Sdn Bhd, Pelangi Professional Publishing Sdn Bhd, PTS Media Group Sdn Bhd and USIM Press for ‘Ideas to Book’ category. Whereas, representatives from Kota Buku, MEASAT Broadcast Network (Astro), Ata Plus Sdn Bhd, FINAS, and Unique Inspiration Limited will judge the second category.

Announcing the call to entries, Sayed Munawar Sayed Mohd Mustar, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kota Buku said; “Kota Buku is committed to making the competition bigger and better for the second edition as P2P Media 360 will not only showcase the best talents Malaysia has to offer, but will help local authors to establish footprints in digital media with their ideas. We received over 100 entries last year and we hope to beat this figure with greater participation this year”.

Last year, Saadon Ishak who is the Managing Director of Don Studio Sdn Bhd, won the grand prize for ‘Ideas to Book’ category with his original illustrated travelogue sketchbook, What a Colourful World inspired by his private art journal which features various sceneries, architecture, historical artefacts, and others in Europe, Middle East, and Asia. Whereas, Sinn Chun Hou, a Creative Director of All For One Productions garnered the grand prize for the second category for Disappear, a graphic novel about two young brothers who stumble into a magical realism in Sabah.

The deadline for all submissions is 17th April 2017.
