  WORKING VISIT OF THE MINISTER OF INTERNATIONAL TRADE AND INDUSTRY TO SINGAPORE, 24-25 MAY 2017

KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 (Bernama) -- YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of the International Trade and Industry, will undertake a working visit to Singapore on 24-25 May 2017. 
 
During the visit, YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa is scheduled to meet H.E. Lim Hng Kiang, Minister of Trade and Industry Singapore to discuss trade and investment issues as well as future collaborations to enhance the bilateral economic relations. The Minister will also meet with several multinational and home grown companies in Singapore as well as trade associations and chambers (TACs) to discuss investment opportunities in Malaysia. A networking session with Malaysian professionals working in Singapore and visits to MediaCorp and Temasek are also included in the Minister’s programme. 
 
Singapore is Malaysia’s second largest trading partner, with RM52.8 billion total trade until March 2017, constituting 12.3 per cent of Malaysia’s total global trade, and 44.5 per cent of total trade among fellow Association of South East Asian (ASEAN) member countries.
 
Singapore is also Malaysia’s largest investor from ASEAN. To date, Malaysia has approved US$801.3 million of investments with Singapore participation involving 4,421 in manufacturing projects. These have created more than 521,540 employment opportunities. Singapore companies have a strong presence in sectors such as electrical and electronics, food manufacturing, chemicals, and metal products.
