  TAIWAN'S IAPS COLLABORATES WITH TECHNOLOGY PARK MALAYSIA ON CO-INCUBATION PROGRAMMES

KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 (Bernama) --  The Center of Industry Accelerator and Patent Strategy (IAPS) of the National ChiaoTung University, Taiwan, and Technology Park Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd (TPM) have today agreed to collaborate in their co-incubation and soft landing programmes towards internationalizing incubation services.  
 
The collaborative effort is set to spur greater cooperation in mutually creating win-win smart partnerships between Taiwanese and Malaysian startups and enterprises. It would also provide both parties to jointly develop strategic co-incubation programmes and provide their incubatees the opportunity to explore new business and investments opportunities in the global arena.
 
IAPS is a university based accelerator. They provide the platform for startups to access industrial networking and international resources.  Their services include capital matching, training courses, international networking which enable startups to accelerate their growth.   
 
The IAPS-TPM collaboration was inked between IAPS Deputy Director General, Mei-Hsueh Lin and TPM’s Vice President of Park Management and Services, Shahazman Abu Samah following the Taiwanese delegation’s visit to Technology Park Malaysia, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.
 
The programme shall facilitate market exploration by SMEs from Malaysia and Taiwan through handholding services by incubator managers in TPM and IAPS. This cross market exploration may benefit SMEs from both countries by providing local expertise that is well-versed and knowledgeable in respective market. Provision of physical office comes with zero or minimum charges shall reduce cost of entering international market significantly.

Shahazman said the collaboration marked another major step forward for both parties to share, exchange and strengthen cooperation in exploring new technology and business opportunities with a common objective of improving the economic and bilateral relations between Taiwan and Malaysia.

“In today’s rapidly interconnected and borderless world, collaboration among like-minded entrepreneurs and technopreneurs is an excellent synergy to add value to new technology and commercialization of products and services.

“Bilateral trade ties and cooperation at international level will enable companies to explore, expand and boost their competitive levels to greater heights. This paradigm shift of smart partnerships will create a win-win opportunity to contribute significant to the growth of the regional industries,” added Shahazman. 
 
In efforts to expand its internationalization, TPM has to date established collaboration with ten countries namely Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, The Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, South Korea, India and Russia.

TPM through its Innovation Incubation Centre is promoting 4th generation incubation into comprehensive and integrated handholding programme through coaching, mentoring, training and consultancy in the area of funding, market, technology, expansion, IP and other related services.

Technology Park Malaysia Sdn Bhd, an agency of MOSTI, has an integrated infrastructure, facilities and support services to assist technopreneurs and entrepreneurs who are keen to commercialize their ideas in the four industry clusters, namely, ICT, Engineering, Biotechnology and Green Technology.
