SUNGAI BULOH, June 18 (Bernama) -- PETRONAS Gas Berhad (PGB), a subsidiary of PETRONAS, brought cheer to those in need this year, through its Sentuhan Kasih Aidilfitri programme, organised at Kampung Melayu, here today.
The CSR programme was held in collaboration with Nadi Anissa, a non-profit organisation, over two weekends and saw the distribution of rice packets to underprivileged families and new Hari Raya outfits to selected children. Also organized was a “free market” for the villagers.
On 11 June, Sentuhan Kasih kicked off with the distribution of 10kg rice packets to 100 underprivileged families and the presentation of new Hari Raya outfits to some 100 children at Sekolah Rendah Agama Zahidiah.
Today, PGB staff reconvened at the school to organise a “Hari Raya free market”, a marketplace where the needy can get their Hari Raya essentials without paying a single sen.
Some 200 selected underprivileged families were offered a wide range of pre-loved items including apparels, headscarves, handbags, shoes, toys and accessories that were donated by PGB staff.
“It is part of our way to bring smiles to the less-fortunate this Aidilfitri,” said PGB Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Encik Kamal Bahrin Ahmad. “It is indeed heartening to see their happy faces, especially the children.”
This year marks PGB’s third Sentuhan Kasih Aidilfitri programme. The first two were also organized in the month of Ramadan, for smaller groups of about 20 families in Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya, Selangor, respectively.
Sentuhan Kasih is PETRONAS’ community outreach programme held in conjunction with Malaysia’s main festivities. The annual event carried out by companies across the Group also sees the involvement of employees in various activities organised by PETRONAS subsidiaries.
