Delivering Happyness Programme Receives Close to 10,000 Items from Samaritans
KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 (Bernama) -- PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB) and its partner Grab Malaysia (Grab)’s joint community service programme, Delivering Happyness received overwhelming responses from the public, collecting close to 10,000 items. The programme, which ran from 12 June to 18 June 2017, culminated with a handover ceremony of the public donations to children from Rumah Kasih Harmoni Paya Jaras.
In addition to Rumah Kasih Harmoni Paya Jaras, the items collected will be distributed to 12 homes located in the Klang Valley, Seremban, Penang, Malacca, Johor Bahru, Kota Bahru, Kuantan, Kuala Terengganu, Ipoh, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Miri, reaching out to almost 900 underprivileged children.
Speaking about the initiative, Aadrin Azly, PDB’s Head of Retail Business said, “We are extremely happy with the response received for the Delivering Happyness programme and to be able to touch so many lives across the country. I would like to thank all Malaysians for their contributions in making this programme a success, and more importantly, giving the children the future they deserve.”
Throughout the one-week campaign, public was encouraged to donate books and stationeries by clicking on the Delivering Happyness icon in the Grab App. Following that, a designated Grab driver-partner was deployed to pick up the donations and deliver it to the nearest collection centre. A total of 100 drivers participated in this campaign with collection centers established at 20 stations nationwide.
Items that were donated included educational and activity books, writing and colouring materials, pencil cases and school bags amongst others. As a token of appreciation, every donor that made the Delivering Happyness booking were gifted with a special PETRONAS Hari Raya Edition voucher which can be utilised at any of the 20 participating PETRONAS stations.
Elaborating further on the programme, Sean Goh, Country Head of Grab Malaysia said, “This is our third time organising this campaign, and we are so humbled by the overwhelming response from the public and the support from our driver-partners. We want to take this opportunity to thank PDB for their partnership and establishing the collection bins in areas conveniently accessible for our passengers and drivers throughout the country. We are also very glad to be able to extend our partnership with PDB beyond business, to jointly contribute back to the society.”
Earlier, the children from Rumah Kasih Harmoni Paya Jaras were treated to a science discovery journey at PETROSAINS, courtesy of PDB. In addition to the donated items, PDB also sponsored each child with a PETRONAS school bag.
