PUTRAJAYA, June 24 (Bernama) -- The Government of Malaysia strongly condemns the terrorist bomb attack in the Holy City of Makkah on Friday, 23 June 2017. The attack took place near to Masjidil Haram, wounding 11 people, including 5 local policemen. So far there have been no reports of Malaysians involved in the attack.
 
The Government of Malaysia extends its deepest condolence and sympathy to the Government and the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as the families of people affected by this attack. The attack is made more tragic as it took place in the holy month of Ramadan.
 
Terrorism is a global scourge and the bomb attack in Makkah underscores once again the importance for the international community to be united in the fight against it.
 
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia, through the Consulate General of Malaysia in Jeddah will continue to monitor the situation.
