Friday 14/07/2017

SERDANG, July 14 (Bernama) -- Beating 280 teams across 33 countries, Putra Business School (PBS) had emerged as one of the 12 semi-finalist in the Siam Commercial Bank PLC (SCB) Future Leader Challenge 2017 held in Thailand. Not just that, the team, which was named ‘The Challengers’, came forth as the winner of the 99-Second Pitch challenge. PBS team comprised of students: Cheah Fu Yuan, Kogillavanan Munusamy, Loh Wai Mun and Hoo Yien Ting.

The SCB Future Leadership Challenge is an international business case competition for master’s degree students, based in Thailand. The competition provides the participants with the opportunity to enhance and practice their analytical skill set by solving real-life business cases. The participants will receive professional feedback from the panel of judges and the chance to win the H.M. King’s Award and monetary prizes. This year the competition started from 20 to 24 June 2017.

The competition this year had participants from various notable universities from Asia, some of them being the Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University from Thailand, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Singapore Management University, GLOBIS University from Japan and Gadjah Mada University from Indonesia, among others.

Team leader, Cheah Fu Yuan, gave some tips to Malaysian students who are interested to join future competitions. “The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is just that little bit of ‘extra’ and you can be that little bit of extra. Do not worry about failures, worry about the chances that you will miss when you do not even try,” he said.
