7-Eleven Malaysia engages the community for its annual charity programme, Semurni Kasih

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 (Bernama) -- 7-Eleven Malaysia, the largest stand-alone convenience store chain in Malaysia has engaged with customers to support the underprivileged community through their annual CSR initiative, Semurni Kasih under the Community Care program. The campaign is held in conjunction with the month of Ramadhan, from 24th May to 3rd July 2017 and encouraged patrons to donate necessities purchased from 7-Eleven by dropping them into contribution boxes placed in more than 2,100 stores nationwide.

RM3,025,937.83 worth of provisions consisting of food and non-food products were gathered at the end of the campaign. Amongst these provisions are canned food, biscuits, rice, bottled and canned beverages, as well as medicine that were distributed to more than 190 charity homes and charitable causes across the country. The annual charity programme has accumulated more than RM11 million worth of supplies to the less fortunate since its establishment in 2010.

Several of its handover and celebration ceremonies were organized nationwide, graced by the presence of representatives and their charges from aid organizations such as ­­­­Rumah Kebajikan Darul Shifa, Pusat Komuniti Lembah Pantai KL, Rumah Kebajikan Darul Taqwa and many more.

7-Eleven Malaysia Deputy CEO, Mr. Hishammudin Hasan said, “This marks the eighth year of success for Semurni Kasih, and once again, we are sincerely grateful for the support of our customers in participating for this noble cause to aid the less fortunate.
