KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- The Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia, in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), will launch a book entitled “ASEAN: FutureForward”. The event will be held on 28 August 2017 at the Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur.

The book contains essays written by eminent scholars, former ministers, senior officials, diplomats and seasoned journalists who have dedicated time and effort towards promoting ASEAN integration. This compilation of essays focuses on the long-term future of ASEAN in a rapidly changing landscape over the next 50 years. As an initiative by ISIS Malaysia, this book receives the full support of the ASEAN Secretariat and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia.

His Royal Highness Paduka Seri Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbudin Shah Al-Maghfur-lah, The Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan and Royal Fellow of ISIS Malaysia has agreed to deliver the Royal Address and launch the book.

Following the launching ceremony, a panel discussion featuring experts in their respective fields will deliberate on “Visualising ASEAN’s Next 50 Years”. The four panellists are YBhg Dato’ Sri Nazir Razak, Chairman of CIMB Group, Professor Koh Kheng Lian, Emeritus Professor at the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Law, Dr Aries Arugay, Associate Professor at the University of Phillipines-Diliman’s Department of Political Science, and Ms Dwintha Maya Kartika, Economics, Trade and Regional Integration (ETRI) Analyst at ISIS Malaysia. The panel discussion is expected to expand the subject matters discussed in the book while focusing on the opportunities and challenges for ASEAN in the next half a century.
