  AMBANK ISLAMIC PARTNERS WITH UTM IN DRIVING UTM EDUCATION ENDOWMENT FUND THROUGH JOMPAY

KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 (Bernama) -- AmBank Islamic Berhad (AmBank Islamic) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) today officially partnered to enable JomPAY- which serves as a channel to contribute into the UTM Education Endowment Fund (UEEF).   
 
Present at the launch ceremony were Tan Sri Dr. Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur, Secretary General, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali, Chairman, UTM, Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Wahid Omar, Vice-Chancellor, UTM, Tan Sri Azman Hashim, Chairman, AmBank Group, Dato’ Sulaiman Mohd Tahir, Group Chief Executive Officer, AmBank Group, Eqhwan Mokhzanee, Chief Executive Officer, AmBank Islamic and Peter Schiesser, Group Chief Executive Officer, Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet), the operator of JomPAY.
 
The partnership between AmBank Islamic and UTM with JomPAY would provide added convenience, accessibility and flexibility to the public and corporate sector to make contributions to the UEEF. JomPAY enables payments via internet banking, mobile banking and ATMs of 40 banks in Malaysia anytime, anywhere, which provides added convenience, accessibility and flexibility to the contributors. JomPAY is Malaysia’s largest online bill payment service with more than 3,000 biller codes.
 
“With this collaboration with UTM and JomPAY, we are pleased to embark on a value-based intermediation to further assist the university in creating a vibrant and conducive academic environment, through the contributions channelled through JomPAY,” said Eqhwan Mokhzanee, Chief Executive Officer, AmBank Islamic.

Menara Endowment is UTM’s commitment to raise funds towards creating a vibrant knowledge culture and fertile intellectual ecosystem at the university. This effort is in line with the initiative of the Ministry of Education and the practise of renowned institutions in fund raising for knowledge purpose. It is also established to raise funds to implement various knowledge and scholarly activities while giving opportunity to the society to contribute to uphold the institution of knowledge.
 
UTM’s participation in JomPAY is powered by AmBank Group’s Transaction Banking which provides one-stop wholesale banking solution in cash management, trade finance and remittances.
 
The partnership of AmBank Islamic and UTM with JomPAY was held in conjunction with the official launch of Azman Hashim International Business School.

About UTM Education Endowment Fund
 
UTM has initiated the endowment concept of the act of giving for scholarly deeds with the introduction of the UTM Merdeka Endowment Fund. This sis one of the main mechanisms for elevating UTM as a beacon of knowledge to enhance the academic and intellectual ecosystem of the university. Since its establishment in early 2010, more than RM3.5 million have been collected and the contributions have been increasing steadily. As part of the initiative, the Menara Endowmen is introduced as a concept whereby individuals, organisations or companies are invented to sponsor selected premises in UTM and in return, they are allowed to capture their names, images or brands at the premises as part of their marketing strategy. UTM welcomes the contribution from all stakeholder including university staff, students, Alumni and individuals, corporate organisations and others from within and outside the country in making this effort a success in pursuit of scholarly activities in UTM and further promote knowledge culture among the community.
