KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 (Bernama) -- In line with Malaysia’s Vision 2020, the Ministry of Tourism and Culture (MOTAC), together with Oriental Mace Group Bhd. has launched MyBeauty, a National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) project designed to promote Malaysia as the Beauty Tourism Hub of the World.

“The initiative, to be governed by the Independent Management Team, seeks to elevate the country’s professionals in the beauty and healthcare industry through technology, education and training, setting a high bar for goods and services in order to transform the sector into one of Malaysia’s top tourist draws.” Datuk Rashidi Hasbullah, Secretary General of MOTAC.

The event aimed to attract 6 million high-yield beauty tourists in 2019 with a targeted total of USD 18 billion in tourism receipts. The promotional arm of the Ministry of Tourism, which has so far succeeded in attracting 30 million tourists a year. MyBeauty will, in a large way, help to realize the Malaysia’s Tourism Transformation Plan which is to bring in 36 million tourists with USD 168 billion in receipts for the year 2020.

One of the key elements in Malaysia’s Beauty Tourism campaign is the MyBeauty App, a digital platform that allows tourists as customers to connect with products and services offered by registered establishments and professionals instantly, tapping into Malaysia’s beauty and healthcare industry.

According to Tourism Economist Professor Dr. Wong Kong Yew, co-chairman of IMT, “MyBeauty works like a seal of trust — establishments and professionals in the beauty and healthcare sectors have to meet certain government-regulated requirements in order to qualify as partners (establishments), vendors (brands with products to promote) and apprentices (professionals seeking to upgrade their skills)”.

With MyBeauty’s advanced Central Support Bureau (CSB), customers are able to provide feedback through testimonials and a rating system for quality and price that will in effect raise the standard of services and level of transparency within the industry, shining the spotlight on the best products and most professional services, as endorsed by satisfied customers.

MyBeauty is giving out matching grants of up to MYR 50,000 to successful applicants, which they can use to purchase products and training. Last day for MyBeauty matching grant application is May 31, 2018 and will be heavily promoted by over 30 Tourism Malaysia offices worldwide.
