PIC RECEIVES FOUR ISO CERTIFICATIONS FROM SIRIM

PENGERANG, July 30 (Bernama) -- PETRONAS Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation Sdn Bhd (PRPC) recently received four International Standard Organisation (ISO) certifications from SIRIM QAS International, for meeting internationally-recognised standards in executing the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) project. The certifications are ISO 18788:2015 which sets out a global business and risk management framework for the management of security operations; ISO 29993:2017 for the conformity to interactive oil, gas and petrochemical training programmes; as well as ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 which emphasise compliance in the health, safety and environment (HSE) management and supervision. The certifications were presented to PETRONAS by Senior General Manager, Management System Certification Department of SIRIM QAS International, Nor’afiza Saim, in a ceremony held at the PIC, here. Also present were, PETRONAS’ Senior Vice President and CEO of PRPC, Ir Dr Colin Wong Hee Huing and the President and Group Chief Executive of SIRIM, Prof Ir Dr Ahmad Fadzil Mohamad Hani. Speaking at the event, Ir Dr Colin Wong said, “This achievement not only marks another milestone in the development of the PIC project, but also is testament to our commitment to meet international standards in doing our work. “We are indeed honoured to be the first organisation in Malaysia to have received the ISO 18788:2015, ISO 29993:2017 and ISO 45001:2018’, Ir Dr Colin added. “The implementation of the systems which comply with ISO standards attests that the company is committed in taking a holistic approach in managing HSE aspects at PIC”, said Prof Ir Dr Ahmad Fadzil in his speech. The PIC houses a 300,000bpd refinery and a petrochemical complex designed to produce premium differentiated and specialty chemicals. Apart from supplying feedstock to the petrochemical complex, the refinery will also produce petroleum products for the domestic market and meet Malaysia’s Euro-5 legislative requirements. It is supported by associated facilities including the Pengerang Cogeneration Plant (PCP), Regasification Terminal 2 (RGT2), Raw Water Supply Project (PAMER), Air Separation Unit (ASU), Pengerang Deepwater Terminal (PDT), as well as centralised and shared utilities and facilities.
