JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 20 (Bernama) -- Synthomer launched its inauguration event to commemorate the opening of its latest nitrile latex expansion at Pasir Gudang facility.
 
Synthomer, the world leader in manufacture and supply of nitrile latex, supporting the rapidly growing rubber glove manufacturing industry in Malaysia and further afield. The expansion was first announced in June 2017 as the site in Pasir Gudang took delivery of Synthomer’s latest technology innovation, the world’s largest Nitrile Butadiene Rubber Latex reactor.
 
Ongoing innovation and investment

Synthomer has been in Malaysia approaching 100 years and employs more than 700 people across four manufacturing facilities in Johor and its Asia Pacific Regional Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. It has invested RM 1 Billion in the last 15 years and further invested of RM270 Million for this latest expansion.
 
“We are delighted to launch this event to celebrate the 2 years completion to deliver 90,000 tonnes per annum of new capacity. I‘m very happy that we were able to deliver over 1.4 million manhours worked without an injury, credits to the professionalism of our Project and Operation teams. We remain confident and will expand into the future growth in NBR Latex, which will take the plant to 350,000 tonnes per annum, to ensure Synthomer continues to meet increasing demand of our NBR Latex” said Mr. Derick Whyte, Executive Vice President, Asia. 

Meeting the Industry Needs

The Malaysian rubber glove manufacturing industry has seen unprecedented growth over the last decade and Synthomer has continued to invest and support the needs of the Glove Manufacturers.
 
“The global market for rubber gloves is growing significantly and is dominated by Malaysia and South-East Asia.” said Mr. Jason Davies, Director of the Health and Protection Strategic Business Unit.
 
Product Innovation

Mr. Davies continues, “Synthomer has the broadest product offering and widest process capability which allows Synthomer to manufacture the widest range of products, meeting a broad array of the global glove manufacturer’s requirements. Our  recent innovation, SyNovus offers unique product benefits, meeting both the glove consumer and manufacturer’s needs. This new innovation reduces the level of chemical additives in the product, aimed at reducing skin reaction, hence added benefits of reducing the amount of energy in the manufacturing process, reducing the carbon footprint of gloves produced using the SyNovus latex.
