Malaysia’s premier wellness festival is back, for an ecstatic weekend of yoga, dance, a free-entry marketplace, and so much more!
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 (Bernama) -- MURFEST is back for its 5th edition, once again bringing together an amazing line-up of local and international presenters who will all convene in Malaysia for a wholesome and ecstatic weekend of wellness, dance and even party!
As with previous years, the cornerstone of the festival has always been its lineup of presenters who will be offering masterclasses, workshops and even talks on self-improvement and self-realisation. Best of all, there will also be FREE events that members of the public can attend to get a first-hand experience into Murfest – and yes, that includes free workshops too!
Not just for health bums and fitness enthusiasts, the three-day weekend of Friday-Sunday, 4th to 6th November 2018 promises to provide first-time and returning Murfest-ers with an immersive wellness experience for the body and mind, welcoming all levels of fitness and varying personal goals. The new exciting venue eCity Hotel @ OneCity Subang Jaya offers an all-under-one-roof weekend escapade, easily accessible from Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya and other areas in the Klang Valley.

Every year, the JustBe Markets @ Murfest complete the festival grounds by creating a carnival-like atmosphere all while sticking to the theme of wellness.
Need a quick bite before that dance workshop you’re rushing off to? Grab yourself a healthy snack at the market. Feel like a quick massage? Enjoy an express ayurvedic rub down for a quick de-stress moment.
Best of all, the market is not just for Murfest pass-holders, and is open to members of the public all weekend to shop, eat, and unwind.
Speaking of free events, every year, a number of free workshops are held at Murfest’s Community Pavilion. No pass needed – just show up and enjoy a number of workshops by amazing instructors including yoga, acro-yoga, and even a number of dance workshops such as Indian Garba Folk Dance and Latin Reggaeton.
Masterclasses and Workshops
Pass-holders to Murfest will truly enjoy a buffet spread of an all-you-can-experience festival schedule. Now with more flexible pass options, you can refer to the schedule and customise your own Murfest weekend.
Friday
Dedicated to the 7 Masterclasses with some truly inspiring presenters including
- “Hollowback: The Arte of Fascia” with local yoga guru James Wong,
- “Voice, Sounds & Energy Centres” with Bali-based celebrated musician and therapist Shervin Boloorian, as well as
- A special session on “Healing the Masculine & Feminine Divide” with a special all-woman panel including Melissa Indot, Claudia Spahr and Dawn DelVecchio.
Saturday & Sunday
- Up to 30 workshops a day starting at 9am, workshops are categorised into Yoga, Fitness, Dance, Healing, Music as well as Talks.
- Look forward to a wide selection of sessions including powerful yoga flows, led meditations, talks on self-actualisation and –improvement, physical conditioning, folk dance and music therapy.

Saturday night will see an amazing experience for the senses, with the Sacred Cacao Ceremony & Ecstatic Dance Flow Party (starting at 6:30pm). Coming together to drink cacao in a sacred gathering, journey deep into meditation and move and dance freely as you let loose your Amazonian spirit. Connect with others over the soundtrack of eclectic music, and exercise your mind, body and soul as you summon your creativity and inner-dancer.
The ceremony will be hosted by Melissa Indot and Rosalind Marie Anderson Ghani.
Sunday morning, for all you dance-fitness freaks, will see the best Salsation instructors in the country get together for an amazing concert. Dance along with the instructors on stage, strutting your stuff to the latest tracks as you sweat it out while having the most fun possible! Starting at 10am, you better get those moves ready for the 1.5 hour dance-along that will have you feeling both fit and exhilarated.
And Murfest would not be complete without its epic drum circle finale, with instructors, presenters, and attendees coming together to drum up a storm. If you have a drum, pail, drum sticks, tambourine or any other instrument of choice, the drum circle is where you are welcome to release your final bursts of energy! Percussionists, dancers, martial artists lead the crowd as they take centre circle to dance, move, sing, chant and play, unifying festival-goers as one before setting sights on the next Murfest in 2019!
