KUANTAN, Nov 12 (Bernama) -- PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG), through its wholly-owned subsidiary, PETRONAS Chemicals MTBE Sdn Bhd, held the annual
‘PCG Be Green’ campaign, to promote responsible use of plastics among students on 8 November 2018.
The campaign saw 200 students from SMK Pelabuhan, Kuantan, attending a talk on the responsible use of plastics by the Malaysian Plastics Manufacturers Association (MPMA). They also participated in activities such as 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Explorace and Science Exhibition held in collaboration with Petrosains.
Speaking about the campaign, PCG Managing Director/CEO, Datuk Sazali Hamzah said, “Plastics are elements in our daily lives. Therefore, educating the people, especially the young on the proper use of plastics, is crucial to protect and preserve the environment. As a leading producer of the main component in the production of plastics, we at PCG would like to create awareness and encourage the people, especially the younger generation, to be savvy plastics users.”
The
‘PCG Be Green’ campaign was officiated by Kuantan District Education Officer, Tuan Haji Mohd Razali Mustafar and Head, propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant of PETRONAS Chemicals MTBE Sdn Bhd, Encik Alfa Abdul Razak.
Earlier in September, about 1,000 high school students and community members in Bintulu participated in a one-month
‘PCG Be Green’ campaign with the finale organised at SMK As-Syakirin, Bintulu.
