KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 (Bernama) -- Day two saw Mirabel Ting Ern Hui and Maisarah Hezri from Malaysia continued their fine form by finishing in the top two in the Girl’s 13-14 category of the 13th AmBank SportExcel International Junior Golf Championship 2018 at Glenmarie Golf and Country Club. Meanwhile, China’s Liu Enhua topped Boy’s 13-14 category followed closely by Jonathan Hartono of Indonesia and Hsuan-An Yu from Chinese Taipei.
“Today was not that bad but I am happy with my short game and with my approach shots. I just want to play my game tomorrow. I plan go for my shots but I will not be too aggressive. I would like to thank my mom and dad for supporting me and following me around the course these past two days. I also want to wish all the other players all the best,” said Maisarah.
“My game was not that good as I had a bunch of bogeys on the last few holes. I am happy with my short game especially my putting which really helped a lot. Some of my approach shots came off well too. Personally, I am hoping to win the Overall Championship and the One-Year Scholarship award from Hills Golf Academy, Australia. However, I will try not to put too much pressure on myself and just play my own game,” expressed Mirabel.
In the Girl’s 15-18 category, Zhang Yue from China carded a 62 to extend her lead at the top in the category, while Malaysia’s golfers, Winnie Ng is trailing the Chinese golfer closely by four strokes at second spot.
China’s Lin Jia Hao, carded a 59 today to lead the Boy’s 15-18 category while being closely shadowed by three golfers from Thailand, including day one leader, Yuttana Nakjang. Play for Boy’s and Girl’s 15-18 category was suspended midway in the evening due to heavy rain and will continue on Thursday.
The first round for the Boy’s and Girl’s 10-12 category which was continued today due to yesterday’s weather condition saw junior golfers from Thailand taking the top three spot in the Girl’s category while Sukhman Singh of India topped the Boy’s category followed by Anson Yeo from Malaysia and Polakrit Pawichai of Thailand.
For the AmBank Group - SportExcel International Junior Golf Championship 2018, the 148 juniors will play in six group categories as below:

The main prize categories in the Championship are:
- 1st-5th placing for each category
- Best Overall Player (Blue Tee) and Best Overall Player (White Tee)
- Inter Country Team Champion
