MIDA-MUEHLBAUER TECHNOLOGIES COLLABORATES WITH 4 INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING IN MALAYSIA SPEECH FOR YBHG DATO' AZMAN MAHMUD CEO OF MIDA 22 JANUARY 2019 (TUESDAY), 10.30AM BOARD ROOM, LEVEL 31, MIDA HQ
Tuesday 22/01/2019
Acknowledgements Mr Sekar Ramasamy CEO of Muehlbauer Technologies Distinguished Guests Members of the media, Ladies and Gentlemen, Good morning and a warm welcome to all of you here today to witness the collaboration between Muehlbauer and four of Malaysia’s institutions of higher learning, namely Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) and the German Malaysia Institute (GMI). MIDA is indeed happy to work with technology providers such as Muehlbauer to support and foster industry-academia collaborations. Since its establishment in 2006, this Malaysian facility has become the first centre in Asia for the Muehlbauer Group to undertake both R&D activities and the manufacture of automation equipment for the semiconductor industry. In 2017, the company expanded their operations to undertake R&D activities and manufacturing of smart-relate products. Hence, today’s collaboration will be valuable in efforts to develop industry-ready talents for the current markets. We are confident that this initiative will contribute in many ways to put theory into practice and enable lecturers and students to be familiar with the latest technologies used in the industry. Ladies and Gentlemen, As you are aware, the government led by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry is spearheading the adoption of Industry 4.0 in Malaysia. This is the current direction of the country, and we need to move fast to ensure that we are on track with this aspiration. We have been engaging with industry players and companies through discussions, seminars and conferences to strategise the way forward. Companies including service providers are being encouraged to invest in talent and technology to improve productivity and capability, and become future-proof. We also place great importance in engaging with potential investors – particularly large MNCs as they come equipped with the technology and processes required for our industries to grow and diversify. Today’s event is an example of a foreign company that continues to contribute to Malaysia. I would like to encourage other global companies to emulate these practices and bring the industry to the next level. Before I end, I would like to congratulate Muehlbauer and the 4 IHLs on this collaboration and we look forward to everyone’s continuous support in the country’s talent development initiatives. With that, Let me now invite Mr Sekar to elaborate further on this collaboration. Thank you.
