NNN WEBSITE TAKES ON A NEW LOOK IN LINE WITH CURRENT MEDIA TRENDS
Wednesday 30/01/2019
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 30 (Bernama) -- In keeping with current trends in the world of web-journalism, the NAM (Non Aligned Movement) News Network or NNN website has taken on a new look with various new features to cater to a wider audience. With the ever-growing social media claiming its stake in the distribution and dissemination of news, the NNN, which was established in 2006 to provide an alternate source of news from the NAM member countries, has been working on the new look to present its credible stories in a more attractive way. Among the new offerings are its video features, columnists to address pressing issues such as climate change, sustainability, and new economies, as well as stronger linkages and use of popular social media platforms to tell the global stories. A section has been also allocated for Bernama’s international stories written by its reporters, correspondents and global partners. “The NNN stories will continue to be sourced from the various member countries' news agencies including Malaysia's national news agency, Bernama but we expect to add more videos and engage people from the NAM countries to participate in reporting news from their respective countries,” said Ahmad Fuad Yahya, who is Deputy Editor in Chief of Bernama International News Service, which helps with the NNN website operations.
He also said that while some countries were active participants in the provision of news to the NNN website, many more had yet to reach out and NNN hoped to reach these countries.
“While the scenario has changed from the time the NAM was established for countries unwilling to align with any major powers and set to retain their independence, the NAM, we believe can continue to play its role in voicing the concerns of these countries at international levels, and pushing for consensus in global matters such as economy, climate change and peace that remain relevant in all corners of the world,” he added. The NAM News Network (NNN) at www.namnewsnetwork.org is the transformation of the now-defunct NANAP or Non-Aligned News Agencies Pool. It was established with the concurrence and endorsement of the Sixth Conference of Ministers of Information of Non-Aligned Countries (COMINAC VI) hosted by Malaysia in November 2005.
