  MALINDO AIR COMMENCES FIRST FLIGHT FROM JOHOR BAHRU TO GUANGZHOU, CHINA

PETALING JAYA, April 3 (Bernama) --
Malindo Air has launched its first flight from Johor Bahru to Guangzhou as flight OD0664 departed from Senai Airport, Johor Bahru at 10:15p.m. with 96 passengers on-board and arrived at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport today morning at 2:20a.m. (local time).

The returning flight from Guangzhou, Flight OD0665 departed at 3:25a.m. and arrived in Johor Bahru at 7:15a.m.  

Chandran Rama Muthy, CEO of Malindo Air said, “We are excited to start this route, which serves as an alternative for travellers from Guangzhou to Malaysia. They can easily connect to Singapore from Johor Bahru by land, or take advantage of the connecting flight to Kuala Lumpur for a twin city tour. This will encourage growth in tourist and passengers’ arrival into Malaysia.”

“On the other hand, we have also introduced another two new routes from Kuala Lumpur to China, i.e Zhengzhou and Chengdu. These flights will commence from 1 May 2019. The arrival of travellers from China to Malaysia is high, and our passengers enjoy the comfort and Business Class option that we offer. We are happy to grow our network in China and cater for the increasing demand,” he added. 

Currently, Malindo Air operates flights from Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Langkawi and Johor Bahru to seven cities in China, namely Chengdu, Guangzhou, Guiyang, Haikou, Kunming, Tianjin and Wuhan.   

There are three weekly flights scheduled between Kuala Lumpur and Zhengshou, home to the famous Shaolin Temple and the Yellow River, which is known as the birth place of Chinese civilization. Flight OD0692 from Kuala Lumpur is scheduled to depart at 4:40p.m. and estimates to arrive at 10:00p.m. Flight OD0693 will take off from Zhengzhou at 11:00p.m. and arrives in Kuala Lumpur at 4:30a.m. the next day. 

Four weekly flights are scheduled between Kuala Lumpur to the base of giant pandas, Chengdu. Flight OD0672 will depart from Kuala Lumpur at 9:40p.m and arrives in Chengdu at 2:15a.m. the next morning. The returning flight, OD0673 is scheduled at 3:15a.m. and will arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 7:55a.m.

Promotional fare for flights from Kuala Lumpur to Zhengzhou are now available from RM429 for Economy Class and from RM1,099 for Business Class; flights to Chengdu are from RM309 for Economy Class and from RM999 for Business Class. A narrow-body Boeing 737-800 aircraft, comprising of 12 Business Class and 150 Economy Class seat is deployed for these flights.
