KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) was incorporated in 1958 and is the only Malaysian body which conducts a professional accountancy examination recognised under the Accountants Act 1967.
MICPA has collaborated with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (then known as the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia) since 2009 to offer the MICPA-CAANZ Programme – a joint professional programme which awards its graduates with a dual membership and the use of two titles – Certified Public Accountant, Malaysia, CPA(M) and Chartered Accountant, Australia & New Zealand, CA(ANZ).
We are pleased to inform you that at the Council meeting of the Institute held following its 61st Annual General Meeting on May 25, 2019, the following principal office bearers have been elected for 2019 - 2021:
President Dr Veerinderjeet Singh
Vice President Dato’ Gan Ah Tee Dr Veerinderjeet Singh was elected to the MICPA Council in 2004. He is currently Non-Executive Chairman of Axcelasia Inc. He also sits on the Boards of Malaysian Rating Corporation Berhad, AmBank (M) Berhad and UMW Holdings Berhad. He has more than 30 years of experience in the fields of accounting and taxation and has served in the Inland Revenue Department, University of Malaya, Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young. He has also authored a number of tax publications. He has been a Council Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and was Past President of the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia. He was appointed by the Malaysian Minister of Finance as a member of the Tax Reform Committee in September 2018.
Dato’ Gan Ah Tee was elected to the MICPA Council in 2008. He is the Managing Partner of BDO in Malaysia and Regional Senior Partner of BDO in ASEAN. He has more than 35 years’ of experience in auditing, accounting and financial advisory. Dato’ Gan is the Past President of IPAM. He is also a Council Member of ICAEW representing ASEAN and a member of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He is a member of the Financial Reporting Foundation (FRF), a trustee body responsible for the oversight of the Malaysian Accounting Standard Board's (MASB) performance, financial and funding arrangements, and as an initial source of views for the MASB on proposed standards and pronouncements.
MICPA has a Council of 30 elected members comprising prominent members of the accounting fraternity including several Managing Partners and Partners from some of the top accounting firms in the country.
