PETALING JAYA, July 2 (Bernama) -- Bandar Rimbayu’s Raya Legendary, with a special performance by Malaysia’s Queen of Jazz, Dato’ Sheila Majid, marked the final leg of IJM Land’s Hari Raya Open House series. The festivities, celebrated in five locations brought community and residents from various races together, embracing Malaysia’s diversity, and celebrating its culture.
IJM Land’s first open house celebration began in Penang at Permatang Sanctuary on 6 June; followed by a fun-filled double celebration of Hari Raya and Father’s Day at Riana Dutamas in Kuala Lumpur on 16 June; with Alam Suria Enclave in Shah Alam on 22 June and Seremban 2 on 30 June, both locations with entertainment from ERA and Zayan’s hosts, Ayda Jebat, Hael Husaini and a live performance by Misha Omar at the latter before closing with Bandar Rimbayu. A total of 6,300 guests came together as families, friends and communities in an atmosphere of merriment to these open houses.
The tradition of open house (rumah terbuka) is very much unique to Malaysia. We open not just the doors of our homes, but also our hearts to guests, notwithstanding faith and ethnicity during Rumah Terbuka. It is a Malaysia-centric culture that has been preserved through generations and celebrated by all. As part of IJM Land’s ‘Celebrating our Festival’ series, festive occasions are timely platform to appreciate our rich community tapestry while advocating unity in diversity.
“At IJM Land, we believe everyone is family. And through all these open houses, we are celebrating with our families. And this is not just during Hari Raya but all the key festivals in Malaysia where we are present. We get to enjoy our food, be with our family and friends while retaining a key aspect of our culture of
ziarah-menziarahi or visiting the homes of family and friends,” said Mr. Edward Chong, Managing Director of IJM Land.
“Our next celebrations will be the Mid-Autumn Festival and Deepavali and do look out for our open house invitations through our Facebook page,” he added.
On the grounds, guests enjoyed Hari Raya staples such
lemang, ketupat, rendang, kuih-muih and not forgetting Malaysia’s popular dish, satay. On top of festive delicacies, each venue featured different activities for guests. Apart from cultural and art performances such as batik demonstration and dances; interactive activities such as
menganyam ketupat (ketupat weaving), guests were also entertained by ERA and Zayan hosts; as well as artistes such as Ayda Jebat, Hael Husaini, Misha Omar and Dato' Sheila Majid.
IJM Land’s ‘Celebrating Our Festival’ series began in 2014 with the objective of embracing Malaysia’s diversity by celebrating each of the different cultures that makes us uniquely Malaysian and will continue to do so.
