AGROBANK ORGANISED AGENDA AGRO SARAWAK - FOCUSES ON PROSPECT AND OPPORTUNITIES IN AGRICULTURE SECTOR

KUCHING, SARAWAK, July 9 (Bernama) -- Agrobank today organised another business networking session called “Agenda Agro: Prospect and Opportunities in Agriculture Sector” in Kuching, Sarawak. The programme was attended by more than 160 guests comprises of Agrobank’s clients and agropreneurs from the state. Agenda Agro is one of Agrobank’s initiatives to share latest updates with agropreneurs on the prospects and information in agriculture sector and agro-based industry. The business session provides opportunity for the clients to interact with Agrobank’s officers and also to learn more on opportunities in this sector. According to Khadijah Iskandar, covering duties of President / Chief Executive Officer of Agrobank, Agrobank is committed to assist agropreneurs through various initiatives including trainings and capacity building. In addition to comprehensive financing solutions offered for agri-businesses, the sharing session like Agenda Agro helps to assist agropreneurs to develop strategic plans in expanding their business. “Sarawak has great potential in agriculture sector. This can be seen in the state’s outstanding achievements whereby as at June 2019, Agrobank has recorded a total financing of RM1,202.38 million for Sarawak state, a year-on-year increase of 9.41%, which is higher than growth recorded in 2018 for the same period of time,” said Khadijah. She added, “Agenda Agro focuses on topics related to prospect and opportunities in agriculture sector is designed to share the development of the country’s agriculture sector. The programmed was held to provide opportunities to customers on latest information including Government policy related to the nation agriculture landscape in order in assisting the agriculture community to increase income and socio-economic status of agropreneur. We are hopeful that initiative like this will create positive impacts on the development of successful entrepreneurs". At the same event, PROKHAS also delivered a presentation on working capital guarantee scheme (WCGS) by Syarikat Jaminan Pembiayaan Perniagaan Berhad (SJPP). WCGS was established to assist SME in all sectors to gain access to financing from participating Financial Institutions (including Agrobank). At the event, several presentations were also held: - Presentation of financing offer letter to Agrobank customers in Sarawak for the month of April to June 2019. A total ten (10) recipients received financing offer letter with total financing amounting RM8, 135,000.
- Presentation of appointment certificates to four (4) new AGROAgents and three (3) best AGROAgents in Sarawak.
- Presentation of Agro Nurani takaful sponsorship by five (5) caring corporate with total sponsorship amounting RM11, 550 and total coverage amounting RM3, 213,000 benefitting seven (7) schools.
Sarawak was the second location of Agenda Agro for this year. In addition to Sarawak, the next Agenda Agro session will also be held in Melaka on October 2019.
