PUTRAJAYA, July 22 (Bernama) -- Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia announces the appointment of YB Wong Kah Woh as the new Chairman of the Authority effective 1^st July 2019.
 
YB Wong obtained a First-Class Law Degree majoring in Civil and Islamic Laws from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Presently, he is a Practicing Lawyer having an extensive 14 years of experience specialising in corporate and conveyancing practice. His current areas of practice include Corporate, Banking & Finance, Real Estate and Commercial Transactions ranging from the acquisition of companies, establishment of joint venture companies, loans and project financing as well as estate planning and administration.
 
He is also a founder and managing partner of a law firm named Messr HL Lee & Co since the year of 2008 till present. Besides that, YB Wong has a great interest serving the community as he’s a Legal Advisor to Community-based Associations whereby he provides pro bono legal advice and services to various community-based associations in Perak.
 
Presently, YB Wong is the Member of Parliament for Ipoh Timor which has availed him the opportunities to provide his views, proposals and suggestions to policy formulation through his debates and speeches. Additionally, he has held to the post of the Vice Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in the Parliament of Malaysia since 2018 having the responsibility of examining, studying and scrutinising the Government's finances and the appropriation of the sums granted by Parliament to meet public expenditure.
 
Prior to that, from 2008 to 2018, YB Wong was also the State Assemblyperson for Canning (Perak), whereby he served the community within the Constituency and assisted in serving the neighbouring constituencies, from repairing of houses for the poor families to consistently providing aids to the Orang Asli’s settlement in Tasik Temenggor in Perak. YB Wong was also the Chairman of Perak State Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) from the year 2008 until 2009. In 2015, he was nominated as the 30^th Finalist for Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians (TOYM), a project by the Junior Chamber International Malaysia (JCI Malaysia).
 
YB Wong takes over the role of the Chairman from YBhg. Datuk Ir. Ahmad Fauzi Hasan who has been serving as Acting Chairman of SEDA since July 2018.
