KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) will organize a Good Regulatory Practice (GRP) Week from 7
th until 11
th October 2019 as part of the government initiatives in enhancing the governance effectiveness of the public sector in Malaysia through GRP.
This GRP Week aims to identify the measures and share the best practices in improving the regulatory performance as well as discussing the issues and challenges faced by the public and private sectors towards improving the productivity and enhancing the competitiveness of the nation. It is expected more than 1,000 participants from the local and international organisations will be joining this event.
Among the activities to be undertaken in conjunction with the GRP Week are panel discussions on the current and potential initiatives by the local and international renowned speakers with the theme “Transparency for Better Regulation”. The highlights of the event is the National Convention on GRP 2019 which will be officiated by YAB
Deputy Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail on 10
th October 2019.
The National Policy on Good Regulatory Practice (NPGRP) will be launched at the same event to ensure the new and existing regulations comply with the principles of GRP. Unified Public Consultation (UPC) will also be introduced as an important medium and tool for engagement between the public, regulators, and regulation.
“This 4-day event aims to inculcate the importance of transparency among policy makers, particularly in producing quality policies and regulations, to ensure a better understanding of the positive impact of quality regulation on the economy. This will result in higher productivity for Malaysia, as well as to showcase and share best practices from individual organisations on GRP. The sharing of views, insights and experiences on regulatory reform initiatives by the experts will provide the participants with the necessary pointers to help strengthen our knowledge of integrity, inclusiveness, trust and transparency as emphasized by the Government,” said Director-General of Malaysia Productivity Corporation, YBhg. Dato’ Abdul Latif Haji Abu Seman.
