KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- Agrobank today announced seven (7) winners (of the 7 categories) entrepreneurs in agribusiness who had shown greater commitment and success in bringing forward the agricultural industry at the Bank’s annual awards ceremony -
Agrobank Agropreneur Awards (AAA) a showcase event to recognize entrepreneurs which demonstrated excellence in its business framework.
The awards ceremony was attended by YB Datuk Seri Salahuddin bin Ayub, Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry who gave away the awards to the winners and witnessed by Puan Khadijah Iskandar, covering President / Chief Executive Officer (P/CEO) of Agrobank.
About 300 guests consisting of the Bank’s strategic partners and agri-preneurs attended the awards that was held at the Istana Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
Puan Khadijah Iskandar, covering President / Chief Executive Officer (P/CEO) of Agrobank said, the award is part of the Bank’s initiatives to recognize outstanding entrepreneurs in the agri-business.
“Agriculture for Agrobank is part of business, farmers and fishermen are entrepreneurs who provide food for the people and the country. We believe their success stories will inspire others and highlight good prospects and potential in agri-business,” she said.
Agrobank was established in 1969 with the mandate of providing
access to finance to spur the growth of the agricultural sector. With this mandate, Agrobank is committed to creating value by providing financial needs to entrepreneurs, which will eventually help to grow communities which are in need for development.
“These values are in line with the initiatives of Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) value-based intermediation (VBI) which focuses on practices that will result in a better facilitation of entrepreneurship, community well-being, sustainable environment and economic growth,” said Puan Khadijah.
There are seven (7) categories of the awards (AAA); which are the
Young Agropreneur Award, Micro Agropreneur Award, Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Agropreneur Award, Woman Agropreneur Award, Loyal Customer Award (Individual), Loyal Customer Award (Company) and Excellent Agropreneur Award (main). The award recipients took home trophies, certificates and cash prizes amounting RM140,000.
*Agropreneurs refers to entrepreneurs in agri-business; either in the upstream or downstream activities in agriculture.
