KUALA LUMPUR Oct 23 (Bernama) -- Mitra Tours & Travel won the Best Travel Agency in Malaysia Award at the 30th Annual TTG Travel Awards Ceremony & Gala Dinner 2019 held on Sept 26 at the Centara Grand, Central World Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

Organised by TTG Asia Media, the leading travel and tourism publisher and event organiser in the Asia Pacific region, the event pays homage to 86 exceptional travel and tourism players across the Asia-Pacific on its 30th anniversary.

The TTG Travel Awards come in four categories comprising Travel Supplier, Travel Agency, Outstanding Achievement and Travel Hall of Fame. These are widely considered the most coveted and influential travel industry awards in the region.

Mitra Group Managing Director, Dr Fazil Khan Abdul Kadir who received the award on behalf of the company, attributed the win to Mitra’s extensive experience in all facets of travel and tour arrangements, including its good relationship with industry professionals who participated in the voting process.

“Mitra specialises in Corporate Travel Management and Incentive Travel. The company has nurtured good relationships with industry professionals ranging from hoteliers, airline staff, car rental companies, cruise operators and national tourism organisations, to Global Distribution System (GDS) companies”, Dr Fazil said.

Every year between April and June industry professionals are invited to submit their nominations for the best Travel Supplier and Travel Agency covering four categories: two voting, one non-voting and one honorary.

First introduced in 1989, industry participation in the celebrated event has ballooned from a mere 10 awards to over 80 awards.

Mitra, who will be celebrating their Golden Anniversary next year, has won the prestigious TTG Asia Best Travel Agency in Malaysia Award in the past.

“We are proud to have taken home this award in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2015, 2016 and 2018,” said Dr Fazil who thanked the Mitra team and industry colleagues for making these wins possible.

The recipient for Best Travel Supplier Award is chosen from amongst nominations received from travel consultants, tour operators and destination management companies while the Best Travel Agency Award is selected from amongst nominations received from hoteliers, airline staff, car rental companies, cruise operators, national tourism organisations and travel professionals who use the GDS as a primary reservation tool.

“Mitra will strive to improve and enhance customer satisfaction by providing sophisticated, high quality services that win customer confidence,” Dr Fazil said.
