KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 12 (Bernama) -- The 4th SME and Entrepreneurs Business Awards (SEBA) 2019 saw Malaysia’s crème de la crème of SMEs and entrepreneurs honoured and awarded at the Recognition Gala Dinner at the Palace of the Golden Horses.

The event, which was officiated by YBhg Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof, Minister of Entrepreneur Development and saw the likes of Dato’ Seri Ivan Teh of Fusionex receiving the Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Dato’ Mirnawan bin Haji Nawawi bagging the Lifetime Achievement Award in Sports and Prof Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr. Mohd Shukri Ab. “SEBA 2019 showcases exemplary individuals and companies who are game changers in various disciplines. Here are leaders who have successfully transformed their organisations and created inspiring legacies to be emulated by others. The winners tonight are truly the drivers of Malaysia’s economic growth and we are confident that they will pave the way forward towards continuous progress,” says Nitesh Malani, Founder of Yayasan Usahawan Malaysia and Chairman of the SME & Entrepreneurs Business Awards.

The SEBA Awards made its debut 4 years ago under the auspices of Yayasan Usahawan Malaysia (YUM) with the aim to support and recognise the country’s players within the SME business landscape focussing on “Entrepreneur Empowerment”. With a mission to harness the experience and expertise of all the award recipients, both past and current, SEBA has now become an integral platform and a catalyst for entrepreneurs to grow together with their team members and to meet like-minded entrepreneurs to connect and collaborate.

This year’s awards gala dinner saw sponsors such as Ingress Motors and Volvo Malaysia hosting the pre-event networking cocktail session and The Olive Tree Group who hosted a post gala celebration. The Olive Tree Group received an award in the Top 10 SME Category for Best F&B Services.

SEBA 2019 also played host to legendary musician Dato’ Zainal Abidin who took home the Lifetime Achievement Awards in Music and took to stage with a surprise performance of his chart topper ‘Hijau’ which blended perfectly with the “Rainforest” theme and concept for the night clearly driving home the message that SEBA supports change and is working towards tackling the environmental issues to achieve a positive outcome.  Yayasan Usahawan Malaysia through SEBA encourages the SMEs and entrepreneurs to commit to a cause such as recycling and reduction of plastic waste through their businesses.

Amongst some of the prestigious awards that were given out during the gala dinner were the highly anticipated Technopreneur of the Year Award to a true visionary and leader Kamarul A Mohamed, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Aerodyne Group.
