KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 (Bernama) -- Local talent-matching platform Rtist has successfully raised RM1,044,841 from 219 investors through local crowdfunding platform Mystartr.
The equity crowdfunding effort saw participation by individuals ranging from clients to creatives who became shareholders.
“With more funding, we are better equipped to speed up Rtist’s user acquisition via online and offline methods. It also allows us to be better prepared to expand to the whole of Malaysia, and then the Southeast Asian region,” shared founder Tony Chua.
Completely home-grown, Rtist was founded in 2017 by creative talents. Founder Tony Chua is an ex-product designer who left the industry after four years to head a boutique design agency with his sister, Chloe Chua, an ex-designer. However, they ran into manpower issues and quickly pivoted their business model to become a talent-matching platform instead.
Co-founder Chloe Chua shared that this equity crowdfunding run was an exciting opportunity for them to further their dreams. “This let us invite our beloved friends, creatives and companies who are believers in our vision and business model to become a part of our next chapter of growth,” she said.
“When we creatives band together, I believe we can grow faster, achieve more and make a greater impact on the creative industry,” added Tony Chua.
For the average employer, finding employees or talent can be a stressful, expensive and time-consuming affair. Rtist promises to change that by connecting companies looking for creative help with talents through their innovative online talent-matching platform
www.rtist.com.my.
From copywriters to web designers to video editors, Rtist has a ready repository of experienced talents across ten creative fields. Both talents and employers can create profiles on the platform: talents can search through the list of companies looking to hire, and employers can choose from the 2,600 ready profiles available.
Finding talents or jobs are as easy as going onto the website and clicking on one of the ten creative fields given, or by using the keyword search function. Signing up for an account is fuss-free, with the process being far quicker and simpler than using tedious job portals.
Employers will find the vast reduction of risks and commitments most appealing compared to the inconvenience of hiring a full-time employee, whereas talents can quickly and easily find projects and be confident of timely payment. Remuneration is transparently calculated, and collaborations can be terminated with minimal fuss by either party if issues arise.
Rtist is no stranger to success, having bagged multiple awards, placing among the Top 10 in the MyStartr Dream Factory Startup Contest in 2017, and celebrating a double win in 2018 by placing among the Top 5 in the Selangor Accelerator Programme, and then becoming a recipient of Cradle Fund’s coveted CIP300 programme. The CIP300 programme is a pre-commercialisation programme providing a conditional grant of RM300,000. This year, they emerged second runner-up at the prestigious Create@Alibaba Cloud Startup Contest Malaysia.
With various successes under their belt and an ever-increasing pool of candidates, Rtist aims to become the largest platform for creative talents in Malaysia and the SEA region within the next few years.
