CIMB GROUP NAMED BEST MALAYSIAN ORGANISATION AT TALENTCORP'S LIFE AT WORK 2019 AWARDS

Tuesday 21/07/2020

CIMB Group also clinched two other notable wins – CEO Champion and Outstanding Practice for Best Talent Development Initiative

KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 (Bernama) -- CIMB Group (“the Group” or “CIMB”) has been recognised at the TalentCorp LIFE AT WORK 2019 awards with three top accolades in the categories for Best Malaysian Organisation, Outstanding Practice for Talent Development Initiative and CEO Champion. These awards are affirmation of CIMB Group’s continuous efforts to deliver best in class Human Capital practices and drive diversity and inclusion within the Group, in line with our core values.

Commenting on the awards, Dato’ Hamidah Naziadin, Group Chief People Officer, CIMB Group said, “CIMB is honoured to be given the recognition for our progressive HR policies which reflect our seriousness in creating a gender-balanced ecosystem. We believe that diversity improves decision-making and gives us an advantage in strengthening organisational leadership and performance, as we are able to fully tap into the strengths of each staff. As we consider our people as our most important assets, the Group has also committed to equipping for the digital economy through various upskilling and reskilling programmes so that they are ready for career advancement in roles and functions that are increasingly digital at their core. We are fortunate that the leadership of CIMB Group, led by YB Senator Tengku Dato’ Sri Zafrul Aziz, now Malaysia’s Finance Minister and named CEO Champion by TalentCorp, was extremely supportive in embedding a diverse and digital culture in CIMB Group”.

“The recognition is testimony of what can happen when people work together. The initiatives and programmes can only work when business and HR work hand-in-hand and we shall continue to introduce progressive policies to our employees so that we capture and retain the best talents in the industry. We are honoured to receive these recognitions and would like to thank TalentCorp for recognising our hard work,” further added Dato’ Hamidah.

CIMB is particularly honoured to win in the Outstanding Practice for Best Talent Development Initiative for initiatives taken under the Future of Work Centre (“FOWC”), a holistic approach to preparing its people to have the hard skills and the mindset to map their career development in the age of agile organisations and digital technology. FOWC is a framework that facilitates the acquisition of essential skills alongside opportunities to prepare the workforce for a future that will see them working alongside technology such as AI, robotics and data analytics in a highly digitalised environment. This follows an earlier announcement on Forward23 in 2019, which also includes the Group’s RM2 billion investment in technology and data infrastructure. FOWC is part of CIMB’s RM75 million investment to equip its people with the skills to support the Group’s effort in reaping opportunities in a data-driven, tech-enabled world with at least 30 percent of its workforce equipped with digital skills by 2023. It is hoped that the Group’s female employees who make up 56 percent of CIMB Group’s total staff strength in 2019, would also benefit from the convenience of learning and reskilling/upskilling.

More than 11,000 staff from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Cambodia were trained on future skills across a variety of platforms catering to various levels of mastery from basic or little understanding to more advanced certified courses. Platforms are just as varied in view of the demands on staff and include classroom, mobile and virtual offered by the Group’s 3D Academy (Digital, Data, Design) with more than 78,000 learning hours achieved in 2019. To further scale understanding and awareness of 3D concepts to the masses as well as to allow staff to access learning anywhere, anytime, a “gamified” mobile training platform was introduced and made available across the region in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines and Vietnam.

The LIFE AT WORK awards is organised annually by the Ministry of Human Resources (MOHR) through its agency, Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (“TalentCorp”) and in collaboration with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM).
