SHAH ALAM, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- The Virtual Selangor ASEAN Business Conference (SABC) 2020 will kick-off its live webinar series on ASEAN Rebound to Recovery this coming Tuesday, August 25, 2020, from 11.00 am - 12.15 pm.
 
With the theme of “ASEAN: A Beacon of Light in a Pandemic-hit World Economy”, Virtual SABC this year will continue the objectives of prior years, the fully online event will provide a wide perspective on economic integration in ASEAN and in addressing core and current issues related to the ASEAN Economic Community, especially the detrimental effects of the global pandemic on the world economic scenario and ASEAN’s response. Virtual SABC will host a monthly series of 4 webinars starting on August 25, 2020, with the main conference slated on October 14, 2020.
 
The first series will see prominent speakers such as Than Su Ee, Managing Director of the China-ASEAN Investment Cooperation Fund, Hong Kong, Sudev Bangah, Managing Director of the International Data Corporation (IDC) ASEAN, Malaysia and Prof Dr Jamal Othman, Professor Economics at the Centre for Sustainable and Inclusive Development, UKM, Malaysia discussing on how the various ASEAN nations grappled with the Covid-19 pandemic and how they can actually capitalise the situation to rebuild the economy both at home and in the region.
 
YB Dato' Teng Chang Khim, Executive Councillor and Chairman of Standing Committees for Investment, Industry & Commerce and Small & Medium Enterprise (SME), Selangor, is expected to deliver his opening remarks prior to the discussion.
 
Moderator of the discussion would be Richard Record, Lead Economist for Malaysia, World Bank Group – Macroeconomics, Trade and Investment.
