KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (Bernama) --
Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM) organized the Annual Signature Financial Planning Symposium 2020 with the theme of Live Your Today . Plan Your Tomorrow. The event attracted 350 participants online and 100 attending at Sime Darby Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur. The symposium is part of FPAM Financial Literacy Year 2020 (FPAMFLY2020) and is in support of the Financial Education Network (FEN).
 
Mr Ismitz Matthew De Alwis, FPAM President led the opening address and congratulated the financial planners for their continued dedication towards their clients during pandemic situation. He reiterated the importance of financial planning among Malaysians and FPAMFLY’s initiatives have helped public outreach through financial education series.
 
The Guest of Honor, Datuk Syed Zaid Albar, Executive Chairman of Securities Commission Malaysia, delivered his keynote address. He said that although investors are going through very uncertain times, the awareness on financial planning and management is increasing. He stressed on the importance of financial education for the wellbeing of Malaysians as people are still victims of scams due to little exposure and understanding on financial concepts. He acknowledged FPAM and its initiative together with SC’s effort in line with FEN to conduct financial education programs.
 
The Organizing Chairperson of FPAMFLY 2020, Mr. Nicholas Chu said that to date, 14 Financial Literacy Outreach Programmes were completed to help public affected by MCO including a weekly personal finance webinar with BFM targeted for the working class and SME owners.25 financial series webinars were successfully completed. A 6 module Employee Financial Wellness Programme, pilot program with BFM89.9 was also done. This is a continuation program into 2021 for other companies and associations.
 
The Malaysia Financial Planning of the Year 2020 Award also took place. The finalists received trophies and cash prizes from FPAM and sponsors. The finalists are:

The topics covered is on economic outlook post Covid-19,Asset Allocation, Wealth Management, Protection Industry to build a sustainable portfolio, introduction of FEN roles and outlook, as well as how to engage social media for future businesses.
