BANK MUAMALAT MALAYSIA BERHAD CONFIRMS ONE EMPLOYEE TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

Wednesday 14/10/2020

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad (Bank Muamalat) has confirmed that one of its employees at the Kota Kinabalu branch has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and is now under the care of a government hospital.

As a precautionary measure, all co-workers who have been in direct contact with the said employee have been asked to self-quarantine by staying at home for the next 14 days, until given the appropriate medical clearance. Contact tracing is also underway in line with the Health Ministry’s guidelines. The branch, located at Aeropod Commercial Square, Jalan Kepayan in Kota Kinabalu has been closed to enable thorough sanitisation and cleaning procedures to be carried out.

In view of the federal government’s announcement to reimpose the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya for two weeks, starting 14 October 2020, the operating hours of all Bank Muamalat branches in the affected areas have been revised to 9.15am to 3.00pm, effective today.

To mitigate possible health risks due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases, the Souq Al-Bukhary, Alor Setar, and Sandakan branches will also operate from 9.15am to 3.00pm.

Bank Muamalat is taking aggressive steps to safeguard the health and safety of its customers, staff and communities while ensuring smooth delivery of important financial services. These include following medical protocols from local health authorities and implementing strict guidelines in relation to social interactions, hygiene, travel and visits to Bank Muamalat.

Bank Muamalat would like to assure its customers that business continues to operate as usual, with minimal disruptions whilst maintaining safety as its number one priority.
